The device has a transfer line (15) with presses and a crossbar (2) with replaceable toolings (3, 17) for handling a workpiece (16), where the crossbar is moveable between stations of the transfer line. The toolings are movable relative to the crossbar by a drive (5) designed as a servomotor (14). Drives (6, 7) are designed as a gear (G) and are assigned to the drive (5) for operating on the toolings, where a movement of the toolings in different degrees of freedom (x, x `, y, y `, z, z `, dx, dx `, dy, dy `, dz, dz `) is produced simultaneously and for same time by each drive.
