The converter has a semiconductor module (22) with an electronic component such as insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), where the module is electrically connected with a printed circuit board (21). A cooling device (23) such as heat sink, is thermoconductively connected with the module, and arranged at a side of the module by bolts (39, 40), where the side is turned away from the board. The cooling device has passage openings (35, 36) for the bolts, where the bolts are screwed from the side of the module, and the component has a plastic housing and a metallic base plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for connecting a cooling device and a module with an electronic component.
