<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate, with which the viewing angle dependence can be improved by a means, other than the conventional methods (internal structure of a liquid crystal panel and improvement by retardation film) of improving the viewing angle dependence of a liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate has a polarizing layer, including a region where a dichromatic function unit (i.e. dichromatic dye) is subjected to orientation control by having an angle of inclination with a polarizing plate surface. The angle of inclination may be uniform or may change in the film thickness direction of the polarizing layer.
