MAGNETIC STORAGE REPRODUCTION SYSTEM INCLUDING LOW PERMEABILITY KEEPER AND MAGNETORESISTIVE REPRODUCTION HEAD WHICH IS SELF-BIASED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a magnetic recording medium/system including a keeper layer made of soft magnetic materials with relatively low permeability arranged on a magnetic storage layer or between layers. SOLUTION: The keeper layer with low permeability can be arranged upon or below the magnetic storage layer. In an unsaturated state, the keeper functions as a shunt for a magnetic flux generated from transition recorded on the magnetic storage layer to generate a magnetic field of an image of the transition recorded in the keeper. The shunt prevents a signal magnetic flux generated from the recorded transition from reaching the head. To read data from the transition recorded on the magnetic storage layer, a bias current is impressed on a winding of the head to generate a bias magnetic flux which saturates part of the keeper layer. When saturated, a part of the keeper cannot shunt the magnetic flux generated by the recorded transition being an area represented by a head reproduction transducer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
