PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an automatic transmission, preventing sudden engagement of a clutch or a brake. SOLUTION: When a select lever 33 is changed from D range to N range during traveling, in the case where the initial pressure is applied to a pressure regulator valve, the position of the pressure regulator valve 35 is held between the position where the working pressure of oil supplied to the clutch or the brake 36 becomes maximum and the position where it becomes minimum.
