PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely reduce fuel consumption ratio by enlarging operation range in which partial cylinder operation should be performed. SOLUTION: A plurality of cylinders are divided into a supercharged cylinder group 1a and a natural intake cylinder group 1b. Whole cylinder operation in which cylinders of both groups are operated is performed when engine load rate KL is larger than operation change over value KLENG and partial cylinder operation in which cylinders of one groups are operated is performed when engine load rate KL is smaller than operation change over value KLENG. Operation of only cylinders of the natural intake cylinder group 1b is performed, accordingly partial cylinder operation under natural intake is performed if engine load rate KL is smaller than supercharging change over value KLTRB when partial cylinder operation should be performed. Operation of only cylinders of the supercharged cylinder group 1a is performed, accordingly partial cylinder operation under supercharging action is performed if engine load rate KL is larger than supercharging change over value KLTRB when partial cylinder operation should be performed.
