PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor capable of preventing lubricating oil from intruding in a stator of an electric motor, touching a rotor and being stirred up by the rotor. SOLUTION: The electric motor 30 driving a compressor 20 consists of a cylindrical stator 31 and the rotor 33 rotated and stored in the stator 31, has at least lower parts of both end opening parts 31E1, 31E2 of the stator 31 covered by shut off plates 100, 101. Consequently, since intrusion of lubricating oil L into the stator 31 can be prevented, the rotor 33 rotating in the stator 31 is prevented from touching lubricating oil L to eliminate increase of rotation resistance, and shortage of lubricating oil L caused by the rotor's 33 stirring up of lubricating oil L can be avoided.
