PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization, capable of producing an olefin polymer having a small low mol.wt. component content, to provide a catalyst for olefin polymerization, and to provide a process for producing an olefin polymer. SOLUTION: This solid catalyst component for the olefin polymerization, comprises magnesium atom, titanium atom, a halogen atom and an electron donor and has a specific surface area of≤30 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The catalyst for the olefin polymerization uses the solid catalyst component (I") for the olefin polymerization and an organic aluminum compound (II).
