PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a modified vinyl resin giving a one-part crosslinkable coating composition that is good in workability such as initial dryability, slight in affecting prime coating film, excellent in the weatherability and chemical resistance of the resulting coating film, and also good in adhesivity to a base material such as coating film formed using an epoxy coating, and to provide a method for producing such a one-part crosslinkable coating composition using the modofied vinyl resin. SOLUTION: The method for producing the modified vinyl resin comprises conducting a reaction in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent between (A) an epoxy group-containing vinyl resin modified with an unsaturated fatty acid, for example, obtained by reaction between (a1) an epoxy group-containing vinyl resin and (a2) an unsaturated fatty acid under such a condition that the epoxy groups are excess to the carboxy groups, (B) an alkyl acid phosphate and (C) an acetoacetoxyalkyl ester. The method for producing the one-part crosslinkable coating composition comprises mixing the thus obtained modified vinyl resin and a metallic dryer together. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
