The process involves handling a surface of a molded body with an aqueous fluoride infected conversion solution for producing a corrosion retardant layer on a molded body. An aqueous hydrofluoric acid (HF) solution is used as a conversion solution. The molded body comprises a magnesium alloy with a composition of preset weight of rear earth metal and yttrium. The aqueous HF solution is provided on a basis of azeotrope hydrofluoric acid (HF)/water (H2O) mixture. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a molded body comprising a magnesium alloy with a composition of preset weight of rear earth metal and yttrium; and (2) an application of a conversion solution such as aqueous hydrofluoric acid (HF) solution for producing a corrosion retardant layer on a molded body.
