Two or more operating devices (OD) (2-4) are suitable for operating the same /similar tasks. Each OD is assigned agent devices (AD) (6-8) designed to output selection data (SD). Linked to the AD, a selection device (9) is designed to receive SD from the AD and to use this SD so as to select one or more OD for performing a set task. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) A method for automatic selection of an operating device from a system with multiple operating devices for running technical tasks; (B) and for a computer program with program code devices to carry out the method of the present invention; (C) and for a data carrier/computer system for storing a data structure to operate the method of the present invention after loading into a working/main memory of a computer or computer network; (D) and for a computer program product with program code devices stored on a machine-readable carrier so as to carry out all the stages of the method of the present invention.
