<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique permitting a sufficiently accurate registration adjustment while restraining a burden on a user. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming device forms images on a recording medium by moving a recording head forward and backward, and has a pattern forming means to separate a misregistration detection pattern to detect the misregistration of recording position in a scanning movement direction into a first partial pattern recorded during the forward scanning movement of a recording head and a second partial pattern recorded during the backward scanning movement, and forming a plurality of misregistration detection patterns by gradually shifting the recording timing of either the first partial pattern or the second partial pattern by the forward and backward movement of the recording head, a measurement means to measure the optical density of a plurality of different positions in the misregistration detection patterns formed by the pattern forming means and calculate the fluctuation of density for each of the misregistration detection patterns, and a timing control means to control recording timing during the forward and backward scanning movement of the recording head. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
