<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new spiro-cyclic acetals useful as a polymer raw material and a cross-linking agent (or a raw material therefor), to provide a method for producing the same and to provide a new polymer containing the spiro-cyclic acetal skeleton in a repeating unit. <P>SOLUTION: A compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>represents an alkyl group or an aryl group) and pentaerythritol are subjected to dehydration condensation in the presence of a solid acid catalyst to produce a spiro-cyclic acetal compound represented by general formula (II) (wherein, Q represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl group). The resultant spiro-cyclic acetal compound represented by general formula (II) is used to produce a polymer having a repeating unit represented by general formula (III) (wherein, L represents a divalent linking group containing at least one carbon atom; and n represents 0 or 1). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
