PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize the accelerating intent of a driver while avoiding the worsening of driveability when passing a preceding vehicle. SOLUTION: An ECU executes a program which includes a step (S100) of detecting a variety of state quantity, and a step (S900) of executing the processing of avoiding busy shift following the execution of up-shift after passing while avoiding down-shift with an increase in the output of an engine during travel on a driving lane of an automobile road (YES in S200 and YES in S300) when determining to pass a preceding vehicle (YES in S700) instead of returning from a passing lane to the driving lane (NO in S400), and during non-continuous-travel on the passing lane of the automobile road (NO in S300 and NO in S500) when requiring no sudden acceleration (NO in S800 and NO in S600).
