PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce processing after a depressing operation of a shutter button in a photographing device having an automatic exposure mechanism and an automatic focusing mechanism. SOLUTION: Pieces of image data sequentially acquired at every predetermined time interval are sorted into image data for displaying a through image or image data for detecting an object, and the through image is displayed on a monitor based on the image data for displaying the through image. Then, a face detection part detects the face of a person from the image data for detecting the object. An exposure control part sets a plurality of exposure conditions different in steps based on a face detection result, performs exposure control by switching the plurality of exposure conditions in every timing that a CCD acquires image data as the image data for detecting the object to acquire the image data. Image data close to the optimal exposure are acquired from the pieces of acquired image data, the exposure conditions of the image data are set as the optimal exposure and used in photographic processing after depression of the shutter button.
