PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear and an electric power steering device capable of surely restraining generation of noise caused by backlash with a simple structure. SOLUTION: In the electric power steering device, retaining rings 26 and 36 and damping materials 28 and 38 are arranged in a first annular recession 24 and a second annular recession 34 of a gear body 21. The retaining rings 26 and 36 are slidable with respect to bottom surfaces 24C and 34C of the annular recessions 24 and 34 in an attachment state. The damping materials 28 and 38 are fixed on the gear body 21 together with pressing members 29 and 39 by a first spring 30 and a second spring 40, and are pushed onto the bottom surfaces 24C and 34C of the respective annular recessions 24 and 34 of the gear body 21. Accordingly, oscillation of the driven gear body 21 is absorbed by the two kinds of members, that is, the restraining rings 26 and 36 and the damping materials 28 and 38, and thereby, oscillation of a driven gear 14 can be surely restrained.
