PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (meth)acrylamide alkyl carboxylic acid which is an appropriate monomer for a raw material and the like of paper chemicals, water treatment agents, toiletries, sanitation materials and home use detergents, the method being simple under a mild condition, industrially advantageous and imparting a high yield. SOLUTION: The (meth)acrylamide alkyl carboxylic acid expressed by formula (III), where R<SB>1</SB>denotes a methyl group or a hydrogen atom and R<SB>2</SB>denotes a 7-11C aliphatic alkyl group, is produced by reacting (meth)acrylic acid anhydride with an aminocaroboxylic acid under the existence of an alkali in an aqueous solvent.
