PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated metal sheet which is corrosion resistant even when a Cr-based rust prevention pigment is not used, can clarify the indication of a part irradiated with laser beams, and is excellent in laser beam-printability. SOLUTION: In the coated metal sheet excellent in laser beam printability which is a Cr-free coated metal sheet having a lower layer paint film and an upper layer paint film on at least one side of a plated metal sheet subjected to backing treatment by a silica-containing processing agent, the lower layer paint film contains silica, a phosphate rust prevention pigment, and a colored pigment, and the color differenceΔE between the lower layer paint film and the upper layer paint film is at least 30.
