<p>Improved processing for the production of light olefins is provided involving synthesis gas conversion to form an effluent including product dimethyl ether, subsequent separation of the product dimethyl ether and conversion thereof to the desired light olefins. The synthesis gas conversion effluent may also desirably include methanol and at least a portion of such methanol may be employed to effect the separation of the product dimethyl ether.</p>
