A portable terminal for improving the reception sensitivity of an antenna is provided to control the on/off of near-antenna components so as to have the optimum RF(Radio Frequency) signal RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) through a switching operation. A portable terminal for improving the reception sensitivity of an antenna(302) comprises the antenna(302), near-antenna components(304a,304b), switches(s1-s3), and a switching control part(330). The antenna(302) receives an Rx radio wave and converts it into an Rx signal. Also the antenna(302) converts a Tx signal into a Tx radio wave and transmits it. The near-antenna components(304a,304b), located close to the antenna(302), are operated according to electrical signals from their respective connected driving parts(350a,350b). The switches(s1-s3), located between the near-antenna components(304a,304b) and the driving parts(350a,350b), set up or release the physical connections between the near-antenna components(304a,304b) and the driving parts(350a,350b). The switching control part(330) controls the operations of the switches(s1-s3) according to the operation mode of the portable terminal.
