<p>The method involves reading out code data in addition to information data from a memory (M). Syndrome data is formed from the information data and the code data for determining error and/or error positions in the read out data. Verification is made whether the information data and the code data assigned to the error position equal to zero or one in case of determined error position for multiple error detection.
