A chatting service method interworked with a video phone service is provided to make the chatting service interworked with the video phone service possible, thereby easily proceeding communication even when the video phone service is difficult to be performed due to peripheral noise or the like. When starting a video phone service between mobile communication terminals, a mobile communication system transmits a chatting service confirm message to a mobile communication terminal participating in the video phone service(S20). If a chatting service request signal is inputted to at least one mobile communication terminal participating in the video phone service, it is confirmed whether the mobile communication terminal can perform a chatting service interworked with the video phone service(S303). If so, the mobile communication terminal transmits a chatting service request message to the corresponding mobile communication terminal(S307). The corresponding mobile communication terminal confirms whether a chatting service is available and transmits the confirm result to the mobile communication terminal which has transmitted the chatting service request message(S309,S311). If so, a chatting service response message is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal which has transmitted the chatting service request message(S313). Therefore, a chatting service interworked with the video phone service is started(S315).
