The cover element, primarily for use with Belisha beacons and other similar street lighting used at pedestrian crossings etc., is designed to be mounted on a post 1 by mounting elements and comprises a hollow body adapted to enclose the illuminating device and to receive a support element, the hollow body being secured at a first position 56 to the mounting means and at at least one other axially spaced position 57. Preferably the post forms the support element and the cover element preferably has two diametrically opposed apertures 52, the first aperture being adapted to receive the post and the second aperture being adapted to receive a securing element to secure the post and cover element together. The cover element may comprise two sections that can be secured together around at least part of the post and which may be secured together using flanges that extend from the rims of the cover sections. The cover sections may be hinged together and may include seals to prevent the ingress of water or dirt. The cover may include a gallery, that includes a seal, upon which the cover element is secured. The illuminating device may be a lamp or LED's which may be mounted to the post, within the cover element or to the spine of a modular post. The cover elements may comprise hollow, substantially hermetically sealed sections 54,54' within this the illuminating device(s) are contained. The support element may comprise a stem that is attached to the post and extends through the hollow body of the cover element and which receives a fixing element at its other end that passes though the hollow body to secure it to the stem. |
