摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce current consumption while accelerating the rise of light emission of an organic EL element. <P>SOLUTION: During a selection period, a scanning electrode driver sets the potential of the scanning electrode of a selected row at V<SB>SS</SB>and sets the potential of the other respective scanning electrodes at V<SB>CH</SB>. A signal electrode driver makes a constant current flow from a signal electrode where a pixel to be light emitted is present to the selected row and sets the potential of the other signal electrodes at V<SB>SS</SB>. When the selection period ends, until the start of the next selection period, the scanning electrode driver sets the potential of the selected scanning electrode at V<SB>M</SB>. Also, the signal electrode driver sets the potential of the signal electrode where the pixel to be light emitted in the next selection period is present at V<SB>M</SB>.
