A terpolymer comprises (a) at least 65% of ethylene, (b) 5-35% of an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, or a dialkyl maleate or fumarate in which the alkyl group contains 1-6 C atoms, and (c) 0.01-10% of a mono-acrylate (or -methacrylate) of a glycol, 2-hydroxy-3-amino-propyl allyl ether, allyl glycerol ether, 2-di-methylamino ethyl acrylate or methacrylate, N-vinyl pyrrolidone; acrylic or methacrylic acids; or itaconic, maleic or fumaric acids or anhydrides. The terpolymer may be compounded with a petroleum, e.g. paraffin, wax. The terpolymer may be continuously polymerized in benzene using t-butyl peracetate or benzoyl peroxide as initiator.
