WORK AREA EXTENSION AND GROUPING METHOD OF INK DATA INPUT USER INTERFACE

A method for extending and grouping a work area of a handwriting data input UI(User Interface) is provided to extend and group the work area to a predetermined range by comparing a handwriting data stroke position in the handwriting data work area of the handwriting data input UI using a touch screen and a work area value. A current position of a handwriting data stroke is extracted when the handwriting data is inputted to the handwriting data input UI(S410). The position value of the extracted stroke is compared with an edge value of the work area(S420). The work area is extended and grouped based on a comparison value according to the edge value. When a distance between a point of the stroke and an edge of the work area, or the stroke enters a predetermined range set based on a reference extending area of the work area, the work area is extended(S430). The work area is extended to one of a lengthwise, widthwise, and diagonal direction according to an input direction of the handwriting data. Outer edges are grouped by extracting the edge value of the inputted handwriting data.
