The battery pack 50 has a battery cell 80a-g and a controller 140 for controlling the function of the battery pack 50. The cell 80a-g supplies power to the controller 140 and to an electrical device, which may be a power tool. The controller 140 has an operating voltage threshold, below which it will not operate. A circuit is included in the battery pack which enables the controller 140 to operate when the voltage supplied by the cell 80a-g is below the operating voltage threshold. The circuit may include a boost circuit 171, a further battery cell 172, or a capacitor. A switch, such as a FET 180, may be included in the battery pack 50 and controlled by the controller 140 to selectively interrupt the power to the electrical device and may also be used to boost the power to the controller 140. |
