摘要 <p>A two stage microbial digestion process applied to two or more waste streams concurrently so as to convert wastes such as cellulosic and proteinaceous matter into methane plus agronomic products, the process is applicable to a wide range of both currently produced and tipped domestic commercial and industrial wastes. The first stage of the process is anaerobic digestion and the second step is aerobic digestion. The cellulosic waste 1 in the form of a cake 2 containing bioaccelerant 3 is fed into the anaerobic digester 4, together with some returned anaerobic elute as an initiator 5 and some aerobic elute as feed 6. The elute from the anaerobic stage 11 is added to the aerobic digester 17 with the predominantly proteinaceous waste 13 and aerobic bio-accelerator 14. Some NPK nutrients may also be added. A small quantity of the aerobic elute 23 may be returned to the aerobic digester 17. The bio-accelerants are partly derived from within the process and may be comprised of sugars, inorganic salts and organic nitrogen sources. The products may advantageously be presented in dried form via the in-process consumption of the methane generated. Products include humus, peat free composts, advanced growing mediums, organic and semi organic fertilisers and prolonged release polymeric agronomic nutrients.</p>
