A musical instrument is provided to have a displacement member which can be operated to vary sound in order to offer a wide variety of musical performance. A musical instrument includes a musical instrument body(10a), plural performance operators(27,28), a box-shaped sound generator(30), at least one displacement member(46), and an operating section(40). The musical instrument body includes an inside. The performance operators are installed in the musical instrument body. The box-shaped sound generator is installed in an inside of the musical instrument body and generates a sound according to one of the performance operators. The displacement member is provided for displacement with respect to the musical instrument body. At least a part of the displacement member is always arranged at an inside of the musical instrument body.
