A magneto-optic device manufacturing method and a magneto-optic device produced by the method are provided to secure a stable operation of the magneto-optic device and to improve the optical characteristic by precisely applying a magnetic field and finely regulating a magnetic inversion region of the film optical waveguide type magneto-optic device. A magneto-optic device manufacturing method comprises the steps of: preparing a stacked structure comprising a magnetic field applying layer stacked on the upper surface of a substrate, a magneto-optic layer(5) stacked on the upper surface of the magnetic field applying layer and magnetized by the magnetic field applying layer, and a protection layer stacked on the upside of the magneto-optic layer to protect the magneto-optic layer; applying a magnetic field to the magneto-optic layer through one of polar, longitudinal, and transverse, magneto-optic configurations set through geometrical configuration of a propagation direction of the light incident to the stacked structure and a magnetization direction of the magneto-optic layer; and selectively forming a magnetic region on a portion of a waveguide formed on the magneto-optic layer.
