A jam preventing structure of a tail gate or a trunk latch is provided to release the latch conveniently at the outside of the vehicle by pushing a pawl and unlocking the latch through a pawl lever. A jam preventing structure of a tail gate or a trunk latch(300) comprises a locking plate(320), a locking lever(330), a pawl lever(340), and a spring(360). The locking plate is vertically installed in a base plate(310) and formed with a hanging piece(322) whose one side is bent. The locking lever is rotated to be locked and unlocked to the hanging piece. An end of the locking lever is projected with a projection(322). One side of the pawl lever is coupled on the locking lever, and the other side of the pawl lever is extended toward the base plate. The pawl lever is formed with a slot(342) receiving the projection to push a pawl(350) mounted in the base plate and to unlock the latch. The spring pulls up the pawl lever to the direction of the base plate.
