An air conditioner is provided to improve mobility of a compressor, and to prevent defective operation by including a plurality of compressors, a condenser, a temperature sensing unit and a controller. An air conditioner having a plurality of compressors(11,12) and a condenser connected to the compressors comprises a temperature sensing unit(30) and a controller(40). The temperature sensing unit senses temperature of the condenser. The controller applies a starting signal to at least one compressor to be started among the compressors, and restarts the compressor with a power supply turned off state after turning off the power supply of the compressor received the starting signal, when temperature of the condenser is less than predetermined starting temperature after predetermined time.
