A side single release system for a roof rack of a vehicle is provided to adjust the fine distance of a cross bar by using a rack gear formed on a main bar and slide units having a gear grooves. A side single release system for a roof rack of a vehicle includes a main body(12) for interconnecting a main bar(10) and a cross bar(11); a rack gear(16) formed on an inner surface of the main bar; a slide housing(14) arranged in the main body; slide units arranged in the slide housing, and have front ends with gear grooves for engagement with the rack gear; a wire arranged in the cross bar so as to interconnect rear ends of the slide units; and a knob(15) arranged in the cross bar such that the wire is bent and the slide units are drawn toward a center of the cross bar when both ends of the knob rotate. The knob includes a rotating shaft(20) spaced apart from the slide units; a rotating body(15a) having a center lower portion coupled to the rotating shat and an inside where the wire penetrates; and a handle(15b) arranged on the rotating body and protruded outwardly from the cross bar.
