[PROBLEMS] To provide a data input device which employs a novel system wherein a force applied to a force sensor is inputted as polar coordinate data and data input process is performed by using an r value and a R value. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A cellular phone (1) detects a force applied by a force sensor (51) of an input section (50) as orthogonal coordinate data, and the detected orthogonal coordinate data is converted into polar coordinate data. Then, an allocation table wherein characters and ranges of the R values for allocating each character are registered is referenced, and the character allocated to the obtained R value is selected. When the r value larger than a prescribed threshold value is inputted, input of the selected parameter is decided.
