A feeder conveyer of the scraper chain type for use in mines, comprises a horizontal section of fixed length and longitudinally movable beneath and through a ramp section 16 over which said scraper chain 13 passes to discharge the coal on to a further scraper conveyer 27 extending transverse thereto at a level above that of the horizontal section. The known Sigma section side members 11 of the horizontal section are provided with removable spill plates 28 with lateral extensions (29), (Fig. 5, not shown), to trap the chain on the upper run of the conveyer, whereby for movement of the horizontal section to follow a face conveyer the spill plates on one side of the ramp are removed and replaced on the other after said horizontal section has been moved by appropriate hydraulic means, (not shown). The ramp is mounted on wheels 17, for engagement with the ground, and includes drive sprockets 19 for the scraper chain, guide means 21 to return said scraper chain to the horizontal section remote from the face conveyer and a hopper 25, 26 fed from an aperture in the ramp floor and discharging on to said transverse conveyer. |
