A weighing apparatus comprises one or more beams 35 which are each pivotally mounted on a support 40 in a housing 13 by crossed flexure strips 33, 34 and which are each provided with an adjustable counterbalance weight 50 and connected by a link 36 to a member 14, the member 14 supporting a scale pan 15 and being mounted for vertical movement on leaf springs 18, 19 attached to the housing 13. A dashpot (60) Fig. 4 (not shown) may be provided to damp movement of the member 14 when subjected to load and stops (56) may be provided to limit vertical movement of the member 14 and scale pan 15. In one embodiment in which one beam 35 is provided, pivotal movement of the beam when subjected to load is opposed by a counterbalance weight (50a) and also an adjustable coil spring (50b) Fig. 10 (not shown). The weighing apparatus may be used for checkweighing and provide indications of weight electrically.
