[PROBLEMS] To provide a detonator in which the distance required from ignition to detonation can be shortened by shortening the time required from ignition to detonation, and to provide a pulse combustor equipped with that detonator and a detonation method. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] In a combustion chamber formed in a detonation tube, a first partition wall is provided which is formed as a porous plate so as to demarcate a first combustion region on the ignition position side of an igniter and a second combustion region on the opening side for discharging combustion gas. Furthermore, a plurality of second partition walls similarly formed as porous plates are provided so as to demarcate the second combustion region into two or more combustion regions in order to accelerate diffusion of high temperature gas reaction products and the resulting mixture with fuel gas to the maximum, thus obtaining a detonator for accelerating deflagration and subsequent transition to detonation state, and a pulse combustor equipped with that detonator.
