<p>An apparatus and a method for estimating the service coverage of a wireless network are provided to rapidly and exactly estimate the service coverage of a wireless network, optimize the utilization of radio resources, and offer a high-quality service by enabling an operator to easily confirm a change of the service coverage while varying various parameters for an antenna, such as the inclination angle, orienting direction, installation location, and height of the antenna. An apparatus for estimating the service coverage of a wireless network comprises an antenna information collection part(120), a radial pattern management part(130), a service distance calculation part(140), and a coverage estimation part(150). The antenna information collection part(120) collects the information of each antenna, installed at each base station or repeater, and stores it in an antenna information DB(192). The radial pattern management part(130) collects radial patterns according to kinds of antenna, and stores them in a radial pattern DB(194). The service distance calculation part(140), if an antenna is selected to estimate its coverage, obtains an orienting point by using the orienting direction information and inclination angle information of the selected antenna and calculates an effective service distance with the orienting point in the center. The coverage estimation part(150) acquires the radial pattern of the selected antenna from the radial pattern DB(194), applies the calculated effective service distance to the acquired radial pattern, and estimates the service coverage of the antenna.</p> |
