<p>There is provided a method of signalling in an RFID network comprising active transponders and networked reader units deployed to receive communications from t transponders. The method comprises employing amplitude shift keying to encode data base on transitions between a high and a low signal according to a scheme in which respective ones of a plurality of bit combinations of binary numbers are transmitted as different predetermined delays between signal transitions.</p>
