The invention relates to a method for producing ice, especially for construction purposes, wherein an ice machine (1) comprises a heat pump (11), arranged at a higher level and having an ammonia circuit, the condenser (12) of said machine is air-cooled or water spray-cooled and the evaporator (14) is continuously supplied with water which, once frozen to ice, falls into an ice container (2), arranged at a lower level and provided with a demand-controlled discharge device (21), the evaporator (14) operating at approximately -11 °C and the ice formed thereon being detached by periodical coolant steam jets. |
