Welding process for connecting a first pipe (1) with a second pipe (2) along a peripheral joint (3) using a welding seam comprises placing the two pipes in a position necessary for forming the peripheral joint, moving a cooling body for introducing coolant into the pipes so that the coolant released is able to cool one of the pipes in the region of the end to be welded, moving the pipes and a welding torch (4) relative to each other to form a welding seam along the peripheral joint and applying the coolant in determined intervals. An independent claim is also included for a cooling body for cooling a pipe. |
