A receiver-based text message conversion method and a system are provided to convert all of received text messages into desired types for a receiver to display the converted messages, thus the receiver can receive the messages in desired type. An SMSC(Short Message Service Center)(40) receives a text message from a sender(10)(S2,S3). The SMSC searches/decides whether a receiver(70) for receiving the sent text message subscribes for a message conversion service through a DB(41)(S4). If so, the SMSC delivers the text message to a message conversion server(45)(S5,S6). The server transforms data of the message into a predetermined type(S7). The server transmits the transformed message to a mobile communication terminal of the receiver(S8,S9).
