Aluminum alloy, for the manufacture of a cooking utensil of which one of its side is polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coated, comprises (in wt.%): silicon (0.5-1.5); iron (0.5-1.7); manganese (0.9-1.7); copper (traces-0.6); and chromium (traces-0.2), where the weight ratio of silicon and iron compound being less than 0.5 and the residue of aluminum and impurities resulting from elaboration. Aluminum alloy, for the manufacture of a cooking utensil of which one of its side is PTFE coated, comprises (in wt.%): silicon (0.5-1.5); iron (0.5-1.7); manganese (0.9-1.7); copper (traces-0.6); and chromium (traces-0.2), where the weight ratio of silicon and iron given by the formula ((Si-0.7)/(Fe+0.5Mn)) being less than 0.5 and the residue of aluminum and impurities are resulting from elaboration. Independent claims are included for: (1) the use of the alloy for the manufacture of cooking utensils of which at least one side is coated with PTFE, other side is optionally enameled with a sheet made of the alloy; and (2) a cooking utensil, particularly saucepan or frying pan comprising a bottom i.e. to be placed on the heat source, where the base of the bottom being formed of the alloy sheet.
