An imaging device (1) includes: an all-pixel read-out imaging element (2) for outputting a LONG signal and a SHORT signal within one-field period for each pixel line; a synthesis level calculation unit (7) for calculating the synthesis level at which the luminance level of the LONG signal is saturated, for each pixel line; and an offset calculation unit (8) for calculating an offset value to make the luminance level of the SHORT signal reach the synthesis level for each pixel line. Level synthesis means (9) generates a level synthesis signal for each pixel line so as to obtain a LONG signal if the luminance level is smaller than the synthesis level and a SHORT signal added by the offset, if the luminance level is greater than the synthesis level.
