摘要

An image processing device successively scans a pixel string of an inputted image signal so as to detect a linear interpolation application region as a region where the gradation change is to be smoothed for each image signal string and performs a gradation extension process on the detected linear interpolation application region. Furthermore, the region which has been subjected to the gradation extension process is subjected to a process for suppressing a gradation change in a second direction different from the direction for which the linear interpolation application region has been detected, to a predetermined value range.
