<p>A fan unit for an air conditioning or ventilation system comprises a fan assembly (31) having an impeller and a motor for driving the impeller, the assembly (31) being mounted to an inner housing (10), which surrounds the assembly (31). An outer housing (20) surrounds the inner housing (10), the inner housing (10) being substantially isolated from the outer housing (20) by sheets (30) of sound absorbent material. The inner and outer housings (10, 20) each serve as barriers to attenuate the sound radiated from the assembly (31). The sound is further attenuated by the absorbent material (30), which also acts to limit the transmission of the motor vibrations from the inner housing (10) on which the motor is mounted to the outer housing (20).</p> |
