PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a projector by which nonuniform color can be reduced. SOLUTION: This method conprises: an optical component installation step S2 where a plurality of optical components are installed in an optical component housing; an image light projection step S4 where image light enlarged and projected by a projecting optical device via the plurality of optical components after the introduction of a luminous flux is projected on a screen; an outer edge recognition step S5 where the outer edge of the image light projected on the screen is recognized; an optical device detachment step S6 where an optical device is detached from the optical component housing; a color-composing optical device installation step S7 where another color-composing optical device is installed in the optical component housing; an illuminating-light projection step S8 where illuminating light ray for each color light ray, enlarged and projected by the projecting optical device via the optical components except a plurality of light modulating devices, is projected on the screen; and an optical axis adjustment step S9 where while the outer edges of the illuminating light rays for the corresponding color light rays projected on the screen are matched, the position of an adjusting optical component is adjusted so that the outer edge of the image light recognized in each illuminating light ray is positioned.
