PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently separate/remove various toxic substances beginning with oil from contaminated soil. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for separating/removing toxic substances is composed of: an airtight housing body 3 in which oil-contaminated soil 2 containing oil is housed; an exhaust pipe 4 communicated with the airtight space in the housing body; a vacuum pump 6 connected to the exhaust pipe while interposing a gas-liquid separation tank 5 between them; and a collection instrument 7 connected to the downstream side of the vacuum pump. The pressure in the housing body is reduced by withdrawing a gas in the housing body 3 through the exhaust pipe 4 so that the oil in the oil-contaminated soil 2 is volatilized by means of a boiling-point descent effect caused by the pressure reduction in the housing body 3 and the volatilized oil is discharged to the outside of the housing body 3.
