PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge thickening apparatus enhancing raking efficiency of a spiral screw by keeping an inner diameter and roundness of a cross-section of a filter cylinder, and increasing durability of the filter cylinder by preventing partial butting of the screw to the filter cylinder. SOLUTION: In this sludge thickening apparatus, while carrying sludge introduced into the filter cylinder 3 from a sludge coagulating tank by rotatably containing the spiral screw 4 in the filter cylinder 3 and rotating the screw 4, moisture contained in the sludge is passed through a filtering face of the filter cylinder 3, and discharged to the outside as separated liquid to thicken the sludge, and thickened sludge is discharged from the filter cylinder 3. A plane screen plate is cylindrically rounded to form a screen 5, and both axial ends of the screen 5 are fitted into the inner peripheral face of a ring-like member 15 to constitute the filter cylinder 3.
