Method for drying chopped wood pieces comprises shaking moist chopped wood pieces via a ventilating tube to form a stack of chopped wood pieces, producing a dry air stream using low temperature heat of 35-100[deg] C from a biomass plant and feeding the stack via nozzles of the ventilating tube for a prescribed time period so that the chopped wood pieces are dried to a water content of 15-20 %. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for drying chopped wood pieces. Preferred Features: The low temperature heat is produced from a low temperature region connected to a biomass firing unit of the biomass plant.
